Before you take this medication, always check the expiry date. Read this information card and the instruction leaflet inside the box.

Tell your doctor that you’re taking doxycycline if you need other medicines or treatment while taking this treatment.

Make sure you’ve told us about any allergies or medical conditions you have and any other medicines you take before you start this treatment.

How to take doxyPEP

Take 2 tablets, 200mg, within 24 hours of having sex. Do not wait longer than 72 hours after sex to take doxyPEP.

DoxyPEP works best if taken within 24 hours, but does still work up to 72 hours after sex.

Take the tablets with a drink of water and some food.

Do not take more than 2 tablets in any 24 hour period. If you have sex again shortly after taking the tablets, wait 24 hours after your first dose before taking another.

When taking these tablets, avoid taking food supplements containing iron, zinc or calcium and medication that reduces stomach acid. Cover up before going in the sun, and do not use sunbeds as you may be more likely to get sunburn.

You might notice some side effects from taking this medicine. Common side effects include headaches and feeling or being sick.

If you are sick within 3 hours of taking this medicine, get in touch. You may need to take some more tablets.

Staying upright by sitting or standing for 30 minutes after you take the medication can stop you experiencing acid reflux.
